Well we made it back to Lancaster Oh from Dad's Bluegrass Campground in Franklin Ky,and we are staying at Lakeview RV Park from 16 - 26 Aug. We did have some minor issues on the trip. When we were breaking camp (literally), Terry ran over one of the chocks that hold up the Anderson levelers, smashing it into many pieces (see picture). But the Anderson company is very good and after I sent an email to them stating what happened, they replied the same day and said that the chocks cannot hold that type of weight. But, no problem, a new one is being sent out to us at the address I asked for. You can't beat that for customer service.
The other issue we had was one of our tire pressure sensors stopped reporting. Once we were at camp, I took a look at it, thinking the battery was dead, but the inside of the sensor was dirty. I replaced the battery and then noticed the cap was cracked. So I ordered more caps and o-rings for it. hopefully the sensor is still good. Will find out when we get to Terry's parents house. That is where everything is going for now.
The last issue was with traffic. We got stuck in a traffic jam that took us 2 hours to go 2 miles so we could get off and go around the backup. The backup was over 20 miles long from where we were. Once we got off, it took us about 30 minutes to get around the accident and back on the road. Otherwise, we might still be there. The campground wasn't happy because we didn't get there before 5 like they would have hoped, even though we planned on getting there way earlier than that.
So we finally arrived at Lakeview RV Park in Lancaster OH. This is a different park than the last one we stayed at, and the only real issue this camp spot is we couldn't dump the black tank, only the grey. Their setup is kind of weird for that. Not a big deal though, they come by on Mondays and pump out the black tank (kinda). When Monday did come, they came by and go figure, I couldn't get the black tank valve to open. After some WD40, I was able to open the valve. So like I said they come and pump it out kinda. Really it looked like they pumped out the liquid and left the solids behind. I guess I will be doing a good flush at the dump station before we leave.
So the reason we came back to lancaster was because Terry wanted to hike the Hocking Hills state park trails and staying in that area was expensive...not so much here which was only 15 minutes north of that area. It actually worked out really well, since we were more central to the town of Logan (where Hocking hills is) and Columbus.
For the hiking, we took Scout on some of the trails and others we went alone. Scout is doing better with the hiking; when we are going up or down stairs, he sometimes will stop and wait every few steps, other times I have to tell him to stop, but when I do, he stops. One time he saw a squirrel. That's all it took and off he went. Lucky I wasn't holding the leash very tight. Boy did he get zapped a lot for that one (training collar). As you will see in the pictures, there really are no caves, just indent's in the side of the cliffs. And if you look closely at some of the pictures, you will see Terry taking pictures, or getting her picture taken, next to a cliff. If you know Terry, then you know she is afraid of heights. Good for her. Also, this is the first place where we had to go through tunnels on the trail (Old Man's Cave). Below is a list of all the areas we hiked and links to the pictures.
- Cedar Falls
- Whispering Cave
- Cantwell Cliffs
- Rock House Trail
- Ash Cave
- Fire Tower (Terry didn't go up on this)
- Conkles Hollow
- Old Man's Cave
- RockBridge State Nature Preserve
But hiking isn't all that we did. We also drove around and checked out some of the covered bridges they have in the area...most have been moved to that location or fixed up so most of the bridge is new. Here are the pictures of that. What was cool as on one bridge we found a old Mill, the Rock Mill. We got a private tour of it. Go here to check out that story.
After one of our longer hikes, Terry was eyeing a Food truck festival in Columbus. So off we go to that. They had something like 60+ food trucks there. We snapped a few photos of that between the rain showers...yes it rained on us. Can you believe that!.
Scout even got his day...at the doctors! He needed his annual checkup and shots. Found out he had an ear infection, so he is getting some meds to fix that up.
That's it for this place. Off to Huron River Valley Campground in Huron OH. I guess Terry wants to ride roller coasters at Cedar Point. Meet you all there!
