After we left Allegan MI, we made our way to County Line Campground in Summit SD for a couple of days. Planned on staying here from 12 - 17 June 2019. On the way there, we stopped at 3 other campgrounds and spent a night at each one.
Our first stop was at St. Ignace KOA in St. Ignace Michigan. It was just on the other side of the Mackinac Bridge. We didn't like this place. The first spot was big enough for a 15 foot trailer, and the second place they put us in was just wide enough. We almost didn't have room to put our slides out. The other issue was the sewer drain was about 1 foot higher and 20 feet away from the output of our RV. Not to mention super noisey from road traffic.
On the way to our next campground, we stopped for lunch by Fumee Falls in Michigan. Here we had some lunch and enjoyed some waterfalls. We made it to Frontier Campground in Saxon Wi. We liked this campground. It was nice and quiet with large sites. The only problem was there was no cell or TV service and their WIFI didn't work. If they got their WIFI fixed and it was fast, then this would be great.
Our final stop before Summit was at Grand Forks Campground in Grand Forks ND. Here we got our nap in before heading to Summit.
While in Summit, we caught up on some laundry and rest before we headed to Sandy Shores Rec Area in Watertown SD. We also decided to get new vehicle insurance (saved some bucks there) and medical Insurance (saved a lot of bucks there). Also while we were there, we went and checked out the jam session the owner of the park does on Wed's.
Well, we packed up and headed to Sandy Shores Rec Area in Watertown SD. We planned on staying here from 17 - 24 Jun. You might be wondering why we didn't just go straight to Sandy Shores instead of stopping in Summit since it's only 30 miles away. Well, we made the reservations way earlier and planned on spending more time traveling, but instead, we just cruised on through to Summit and our reservations for Sandy Shores was 5 days later. Happy?.
Sandy Shores was a nice campground, except it was electric only. Again not a big issue since we have large tanks. The site was large and right across the road from the lake. While we were here, we visited with Justin and his family and while we were there, Terry's parents showed up too. The party was on now! Justin and Lindsay took the week off so we got to bother them all week. We visited the local zoo which also had a petting zoo too. Maddie, our grand daughter had a blast. We also took some family pictures to keep the memories going. Well that's it for South Dakota. Here are the pictures that was taken while there. We are heading back to Colorado to spend some time in the mountains, dry camping. Load up your fresh water tank and come join us.
