Stoney Creek Resort, Greenville VA

Stoney Creek Resort in Greenville VA.  Ok, I remember this place now.  They stuck us between two trees.  It took three tries to get the RV backed into the narrow spot.  This was a wooded place with a lot of trees and small campsites.  The large campsites must be owned by people because they were like two campsites put into one.  This place is a lot like the Davison campground.  It has a lake for swimming, fishing, and paddle boating.  It was a large campground with several different camping loops.  At this point, we decided to start using our Propane Fire Pit instead of using real wood.  Here is the reason.  Most bundles of wood would cost usually around $6 or so.  we would go through 2 or 3 bundles in one night and any wood we didn't use, we would have to leave because they don't like you to bring wood in from another location.  Using propane, it would cost us about $15 to exchange the tank (less if we had it filled) and the tank will last about 2.5 nights on low.  So propane cost less to use, easier to start and stop, no smoke, no smelling like a campfire, adjustable flame, and can be used anywhere.  This was also a Coastresort place.  We would probably come back here if in the area since it was only $10 a night for us.

Pros:

  • Lake
  • cheap
  • Quiet

Cons:

  • Small spots
