Pioneer Trail Park, Gladstone MI - 2018

Pioneer Trail Park, Gladstone MI
(11 - 14 Jun)

This was the first city park we stayed at and I must say, not bad.

We didn't have full hookups, but we did have water and electric. We dumped when we left.  The sites are large, even though our spot was a pull through, they had a big tree right on the edge of the lot which hindered me from pulling in, so I went around and backed in.  We did have an issue with our site.  The water spicket leaked really bad so they had me connect to the spicket in the next campsite.  That worked for us because now no one can camp in that spot.  The campground had large trees and big fire pits in every spot.  They had a separate area for tents that was quite nice too (assuming you were going to camp and not live like us).   At the very end of the road passed the tent area was a boat ramp in case you had one of those too.  There was a nice play area for the kids and even a frisbee golf course through the woods. (stayed out of that area...bugs and all.)  The place was relatively quiet, if you can ignore the trains that go by at night only it seems.  We also had to deal with construction of a bridge that was just outside of the park.  But overall pretty quiet.

Here is the one of two pictures I took (the first is in the corner above.).

For short periods of time, we would stay here again.  Longer periods would need full hookups.

Pros:

  • Get a wheelbarrow of wood for $10 bucks (and they deliver)
  • Wifi
  • Large lots
  • Pretty quiet

Cons:

  • Train noise
  • Construction noise
  • I have to mention...bugs.
