Outdoor Adventures Lake Shore Resort, Davison MI

Outdoor Adventures Lake Shore Resort, Davison MI
(14 - 28 Jun)

This is the second time we stayed at this park.  The last time was about 10 years ago.  The reason we stayed here for the second time was it was cheap.  We are Coast-to-Coast members so, it only costs us $10 a night to stay here and it's only about 20 minutes to Terry's parents house.   This is a great resort if you have children and want to use all the amenities, but as you read before, we don't usually use them (We did the first time though...Michael was with us).   The park has all the bells and whistles that I can think of.  It has a private lake that you can fish in, swim in, boat in, and just look at.  All are free I believe.

The park is a very large park; about 600 or so sites, that are out in the open, in the woods, and everywhere in between.  Also, except for one swimming pool (it has 3 pools (one of those is indoor)), the campsites are in their own areas and not next to the amenities buildings.  There is a cafe/grill, mini golf, shuffleboard, horseshoes, mini golf, paddle boats, kayaks, pavilions, swim beaches, and probably more.  Plus they have two entry points into the park and both have security guards stationed at them, 24 hours a day.

Here is something that has nothing to do with the park at all, but I thought was odd, and funny all at the same time.  The people at the site behind mine put up a fence around the firepit at their site.  I don't know why since they were hanging with the RV to the left of theirs.  As you can see in the picture, there is a lot of firepits all around, so I don't know what that accomplished.

So what's wrong with the park?  Probably nothing.  What I don't like is it's really big and really busy.  It seems that everyone has a golf cart and I don't think anyone here knows how to walk.  When we take the dog out for a walk (3 to 5 times a day), we are constantly having to get out of the way of the golf carts, or cars, or trucks, or motorhomes, or trucks pulling trailers...get the picture?  There isn't any sidewalks so you have to walk on the roads..very busy roads.  Sure, you say get up early and take the dog out.  We do and it's just as busy if it's 6 in the morning or 6 at night.  Ok enough said about that.  The other thing that we like and don't like is there isn't any trash cans available for your house trash (there is trash cans for a can, bag of poop, gum wrapper and stuff like that).  So what you do is put your trash out in front of your RV and they come by and pick it up every day.  I hear ya, "So what's so bad about that?"...nothing unless there is seagulls around...which there are plenty of here.  They will get into the trash and make a mess doing it. Of course the workers don't pick up that part of the trash and when the birds get into it, they get the chicken bones, fly off and go eat them by the lake...this is where we take the dog to go poop (in the grass by the lake because there is no where else for him to go).  But while there sniffing to find the right spot, he comes across the bones and tries to eat them, which makes me have to pay attention so I can tell him to drop it...several times.  But it is convenient to put the trash up front.

Every site has a fire pit, which is nice, and the lots are all different sizes and you can pick your site.  This is good if there are plenty of sites to choose from (like it was with us when we showed up) but since that day, this park has been full ever since.  Since we got to choose our spot, we picked the shortest spot, right next to the entry road.  Yeah!.  I guess I should have thought that one out a little better.

Anyway, here are the Pros and Cons of the park.

Pros:

  • Full set of amenities
  • Firepits at every campsite
  • You pick the campsite
  • Trash is picked up daily from the campsite

Cons:

  • You pick the campsite
  • Trash is picked up daily from the campsite
