May - 2020

Well we made it to May. So let's see, what happened in May?  Oh yeah, it gets windy here in Benson so we could hardly put our awnings our before the wind picked up and we had to bring them right back in. So I ordered some support poles and zip-blocker sun screens for our awnings.
The poles came in three parts.  A top that straddles the bottom of the awning tube, a strap that goes over the top of the awning tube and connects to the top and of course ground, and the pole itself that allows you to anchor the bottom to the ground. When we got them, the top of the poles didn't secure to the pole, so when the wind came up, it would lift the awning which separated the pole top from the pole which caused the pole to fall and the strap holding down the awning to fall off. So I ended up gluing the top to the pole and that fixed the issue for a few days until the glue gave way.  After that, I put in a screw that hold things together.  We'll see how that works.  The sun blocker is nice.  It came in two parts, the top part goes into the awning tube and stays there, while the bottom part can be zipped into the upper part and also tied to the ground.  It does wonders keeping the heat off the side of the RV.
One day, we decided to head up to the mountains a little North East of us called Mt. Graham.  It was a windy road to the top, but we were awarded with the view of a nice lake.  We found out one thing about Arizona mountains, they are not like Colorado mountains.  The top of the mountain was about 11,000 feet but unlike Colorado, if you stand by a cliff to the bottom of the mountain, it's a lot further than in Colorado.  Like 8,000 foot drop instead of say, 3,000 like in Colorado.  Here are those pictures with a video to boot!
I'm not saying it gets hot in Benson, but it does.  So much that with the wind and heat, it took out a basketball hoop.  Not to mention our RV Fridge started having issues with the heat.  It would sometimes just stop cooling.  I think it's either the thermister or ice buildup on the internal fins in the fridge.  Just another issue in the life of an RV'er.
For Mother's Day, I whipped up a little dish for her.  It's a dish called "Creamy Lemon Parmesan Chicken" with a variation of "One Pot Pasta"  Each is linked to the pages of the recipe (with video too!).
Made dinner for Terry.

Took a trip to Denver to get our stuff from storage.   It was pretty uneventful.  We filled our tanks before we left and could have almost made it all the way back to Benson on the same fill-up, but we didn't want to take any chances, so we filled up again in Denver before heading back.  We got to see Michael and his girlfriend Kara, but not the puppy.  Now everything we own is either in the RV or in the storage shed on the lot that we are staying at.  We payed for a yearly lease for the spot so we can keep our stuff there...and have a place to go back to when needed.

Well that's all for May.  In June we head on out...oops, that was a secret.  So we will see you next time.
