After leaving Lancaster Oh, we headed to Huron OH and stayed at the
Huron River Valley Campground in Huron. The Huron River seemed high to me with it sitting just a few inches from the top of it's banks. We had a spot right next to the marina, but when we showed up, it had been raining so the ground was saturated. You know what that means...yup, our tires got muddy.
After getting settled in, We had plans for this stopover. Since we were going to be here from 26 - 29 Aug, we wanted to hit the
Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame and Terry wanted to go to a little amusement park called
Cedar Point.
The campground itself was out in the middle of nowhere (we kinda like that). We picked it because the campground by Cedar Point was about $400 bucks for the 3 days. This campground was under $100. And it was right in the middle between Cedar Point and Cleveland. That worked for us.
So on our first full day here, we headed to Cleveland to check out the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. This is the second hall of fame we have been too. We also went to the country Hall of Fame in Nashville a couple of years ago. If I had to compare the two, then...I hate to say this, but the Country Hall of Fame was way better. It flowed better. The Rock-n-Roll one didn't flow. at one point you are in the early years, then you were seeing AC/DC then back to old rock again. Even though there was some cool stuff in there, I just wasn't impressed that much and either was Terry. They did have John Cash's Traveling bus there. Why, I don't know, but it was there. Here are the
pictures we took. On a side note, we did eat at one of Michael Simons restaurants, called Mables. It was a BBQ joint. It wasn't too bad, but nothing to write home about...oh, I guess ignore the last couple of sentences, because I just wrote about it.
Now for what Terry has been waiting for all summer. She can't wait to ride all the rides and have some funnel cake. So the next day, off we went to Cedar Point. It was a little windy when we arrived which kinda sucks. So we got ourselves a nice parking spot on the end of a row (easier for us with our little truck.) and make the trek into the park. This park is a whole lot bigger that I thought. I guess the last time, I didn't make it very far into the park. Anyway, it looks like there is 16 Roller coasters in the park and Terry rode 5 of them. There was another 3 that was closed due to the wind and Steel Vengeance the line was a 2 hour wait, so she didn't ride that one either. Good thing we went during the week. While she was doing that, I was a rockin the bench. It's safer there. I did drive her around the track in an old car (the Antique cars ride). That was fun. We did walk the park several times and they had a petting zoo in the park. While walking by it, I saw a turtle that looked like it was walking on its hind legs (could only see the top part of the turtle.) When we checked it out, I was wrong. It was two turtles, doing it, Turtle Style! (turtles have been around longer than dogs). We left them in peace, not like all the other people standing around staring. By late in the afternoon, she was done, so we left. She never did get her funnel cake that she wanted. Maybe she will find it in the future. Anyway, here are the
pictures we took there.
After all of that, we headed to Michigan to walk the Mackinaw Bridge with a overnight stay at Terry's Parents house on the way there. See you in Mackinaw.
