After Colorado, we headed to Bandera Texas for a few days until we head to Spring Branch Texas. On the way to Bandera, we had a stopover in Palo Duro RV Park in Canyon Texas (31 Oct). When we showed up, it was raining and cold. I am guessing when I plugged in the power cord to the Surge protector(it's plugged into the park's Pedestal), I didn't plug it in all the way. Here is why I think that. When we got into the RV, we didn't have power to everything within the RV. Only to like half. I did some quick checks inside but didn't see anything bad (other than no power), so I wasn't going to worry about it until we got to Bandera. Then in the morning when Terry started to use the Toaster, that is when stuff started breaking. Like the Fridge wouldn't go to electric. When we started to leave that campground, I went to pull out the power cord, and it just fell into my hand instead of not wanting to come out (like it usually does).
So we put everything away and headed to Bandera Texas to the Holiday Villages of Medina and stayed there from 1 - 4 Nov. This place was nice and quiet. There was a lake about a half a mile away...good place to try out our new Kayak maybe if we have time. This is a gated community and they must have several hundred deer here. In fact one evening, we had a deer come within 10 feet of us. I guess it wanted to get warm from our gas fire pit.
While we were here, we noticed our battery wasn't getting charged, so that must of been another casualty of the power plug issue. So we would hook up the truck to charge the battery for the first day and then went to a auto parts store to get a battery charger to keep the battery charged until we can get to Spring Branch Tx. This is where we get our solar panels installed and new batteries and inverter/converter installed. It's just 4 days away. We also called a mobile RV Tech to come fix the fridge while we are at Spring branch too. The fridge does work on gas, so we are good until then.
Guess what, we had time to float our boat. So we paddled around the part of the lake. The boat itself is very stable and I can see why standing in it wouldn't be too hard. It barely tips from one side to the other. The boat itself has a total of 4 air chambers; the two sides, the floor and the front keel (or whatever it's called.) It took us about 20 minutes to inflate and put it in the water for the very first time. It took that same amount of time to deflate, clean and put away. We like the boat, maybe we can actually go fishing in it one of these days.
This is the first time we spent any real time in Texas and now we understand why people drive across roads that has water running across them. At least in Hill country (that is what they called the area that we were at.) a lot of the roads have or had water running across the roads, so we were constantly running through water to get from point A to Point B. I guess they never heard of putting culverts in so the water doesn't have to go over the roads.
Well we nursed the RV along and now we are off to Spring Branch Texas to get our Solar panels installed. Can't wait!
